About me and Brown Bears

 

Hi, my name is Caroline, I'm a caring, reliable and committed Ofsted registered childminder who is NVQ level 3 qualified. I have been CRB checked and I hold a paediatric first aid qualification. I live with my husband Dave and we have three children, Samuel who was born in 2011, Emilia who was born in 2014 and Evie who was born in 2016. In January we also welcomed a Labrador puppy into our home. He has settled in to family life well, is very calm and has been excellent with all the children I care for. I love working with children and supporting them in all aspects of their learning and development. I always strive to provide the perfect environment to meet their individual needs and help them flourish. I've lived in Farnham for most of my life so I know the area very well and I love to visit different places with the children.



My background

I became a registered childminder in 2012, however my background in childcare stretches back over twenty years. I started out in my teens babysitting and providing holiday care. I then completed a two year Diploma in Nursery Nursing, which is equivalent to the current Cache level 3 Diploma qualification. Following this I worked in a nursery and then as a nanny for two years looking after two children aged 2 and 5 years. This job sadly came to an end when the children started school. Between jobs I started temping in a marketing department and ended up spending the next eight years in this field. I worked my way up through the company and was a project manager for five years, however Childcare has always been a passion and I planned to return to it for some time, so when I had my son it was the perfect opportunity to do this. Most recently I've been childminding for eight years, looking after a number of children across a range of ages. I really love my job and can't see myself doing anything other than caring for children for the rest of my career.

My family​​​​​​​​​​ and interests

I love spending time as a family and we enjoy activities such as swimming, walks, visiting parks and cooking. We love visiting Alice Holt, Frensham Ponds, Farnham Park and the Bourne Woods. Picnics are a favourite of ours when the weather is good but we try to get outdoors even when we have to wrap up warm! At home we enjoy playing games, reading together and getting messy with paint and other crafts.

I’m committed to providing a stimulating, fun and loving setting in which children can fully express themselves as individuals. I believe children should be encouraged to be independent by allowing them the freedom to explore but within a safe and secure environment. I provide age appropriate learning opportunities through play and everyday activities to help all aspects of each child’s individual development.

 

​I understand as a parent how hard it is to leave your child so I take the time to ensure they are comfortable with me and that they feel fully settled in my home. I believe a good working partnership with parents is essential so I always welcome your feedback and ideas. As well as providing general information about your child’s day I’m also always observing their development so their progress will be shared with you regularly and I encourage you to share any information with me also. ​

 

I ensure healthy eating by providing a nutritious, varied and balanced diet for the children in my care, I also encourage the children to try new foods and make good choices about the food they eat. ​

​

During the week we go to a number of the different activities around the local area such as Rhyme Time, Play & Learn, Mini Music Makers, Rushmoor Gym and the Toy Library.  We also regularly visit the library, local parks, play groups and go on walks. At home we spend lots of time doing a wide variety of play and lots of singing! ​​

​

My ultimate aim is to ensure your child is happy and fully settles into my home. I operate an open door policy so you are welcome to pop in anytime during business hours.
